Graduate nurses and midwives start strong at St John of God Health Care
12 Feb 2026

At St John of God Health Care (SJGHC), nursing and midwifery graduates are more than our early career workforce - they are the future of compassionate, committed and connected care for those who need it most.
End-of-program survey feedback confirms the Pathways to Practice graduate program and St John of God Health Care as a standout choice for those starting their healthcare careers.
This February, 132 graduates across nursing, mental health nursing, perioperative nursing and midwifery began their professional journey with us. More will join us throughout the year, with applications opening soon at our Western Australian hospitals for the 2026 mid-year and February 2027 intakes. Victoria graduate program applications will open later in the year.
Chief People Officer Carla Bonev says the graduate program is a key example of SJGHC’s People First priority which sits at the heart of the new Strategy launched in July 2025. The program invests in caregiver growth and development, empowering people to thrive, lead, and build meaningful careers in a purpose-driven workplace.
“People First means creating the right conditions for our caregivers to succeed. Our graduate program does exactly that - providing the support, learning and opportunities our people need to grow and build their careers with us.”
Our graduate program ensures graduates transition into clinical practice with confidence. From a dedicated preceptor and Learning and Development support to pathways into specialty programs and leadership training, St John of God Health Care invests in every graduate’s future.

- Employee assistance programs and small group sessions to connect with your fellow graduates
- Flexible rostering and generous leave
Guided by our Values, we offer Hospitality, Compassion, Respect, Justice, and Excellence both to those in our care and to those who choose to work with us.
