Home infusions and IV therapy
Types of home IV therapy
The Healthcare at Home intravenous care program includes a variety of IV therapies, such as:
- chemotherapy
- immunotherapy
- non-cancer intravenous treatments such as infusions and injections
- iron infusions*
Our home IV therapy service is coordinated by a dedicated team who work closely with your referring hospital, oncologists, haematologists and pharmacies to ensure you receive seamless patient care.
*Iron infusions are available to support oncology patients who are under the care of a hematologist or oncologist.
Services for chemotherapy patients
We offer chemotherapy at home to support patients wishing to access cancer services in the comfort of their own home. All home chemotherapy services are delivered by senior registered nurses.
Our nurses are trained and certified in chemotherapy administration, and are permitted to provide these treatments in the home setting. They are required to complete the eviQ Anti-Cancer Drug Administration Course and undergo annual reassessment of clinical competency.
We also provide routine care of intravenous devices such as IV cannulas and peripherally inserted central catheters (PICC lines).
Services for infusions in the home
We offer subcutaneous, intravenous, and infusion therapy for patients to access in the home. Infusions and injections are delivered by our senior registered nurses.
We also work closely with other Healthcare at Home service leads and your treating physicians to ensure you receive comprehensive, coordinated care to support your recovery and wellbeing.
