Paul Forden


Acting Chief Executive Officer

Paul is an experienced health care leader having spent over 25 years as chief executive of hospitals both in the UK and Western Australia, including Fiona Stanely Hospital, and nine years as the Chief Executive of the South Metropolitan Health Service in Perth.

Royce Vermeulen


Chief Operating Officer

Royce has more than 20 years’ experience working in a variety of roles in the health sector, including senior health service and facility project roles.

Formerly a physiotherapist, Royce has completed a Masters in Business Administration from The University of Western Australia.

Previously Royce worked for Serco Asia Pacific (Fiona Stanley Hospital), Aurora Projects and the South Metropolitan Area Health Service.

Michele Allum


Director of Mission Integration

Michele focuses on shaping the organisational culture to ensure the innate dignity of each person is valued and upheld.

She works to ensure the Values of St John of God Health Care are brought to life by the way in which all caregivers treat one another, our patients and their loved ones.

She also engages widely with an extensive range of individuals and groups to ensure community needs are understood.

Michele's career spans more than 30 years’ experience across private sector, public sector, health care and not-for-profit services.

Joanne Clark


Director of Allied Health and Outpatient Services

Joanne has more than 25 years of health care experience and has worked in South Africa, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Formerly a physiotherapist, Joanne advanced into managerial and then leadership roles supporting WA country district hospitals and multipurpose sites, primary health, Aboriginal health and allied health services.

Joanne has a Master’s degree in Health Management and most recently held the position of Director of Allied Health in the South West region.

Dr Surbhi Malhotra


Director of Medical Services

Dr Malhotra joined us in May 2025, bringing extensive leadership experience from several senior roles, including Director of Medical Services at St John of God Bunbury Hospital, Deputy Director of Medical Services at St John of God Subiaco Hospital, and Acting Director of Medical Services at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital.

Dr Malhotra has held senior leadership positions in Anaesthetics across Western Australia, Sydney and London.

Surbhi graduated from the University of Glasgow with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery and subsequently has obtained a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists UK, a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and an Associate Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Medical Administrators.

Gail Miller


Director of Nursing and Midwifery

Gail has over 30 years of nursing experience, many of them in senior nursing management positions across both the public and private health care sectors.

Having completed a Bachelor of Nursing at Edith Cowan University, Gail has also completed post graduate studies covering the areas of Adult Rehabilitation and Health Management.

Gail has a passion for patient safety, innovation and delivering the best care possible for patients.

Erin Wilson


Director of Corporate Services

Erin has 20 years’ experience in senior leadership positions in clinical, management, policy, board and project roles across public hospital and private health settings.

Previously, Erin has held numerous director, associate program director and clinical operations roles for various health networks including St John of God Health Care Western Australia, Mercy Health and Eastern Health in Victoria, where she was responsible for a large suite of multidisciplinary and multi-site services spanning acute, sub-acute, ambulatory care and primary health services.

Formerly a physiotherapist, Erin has also completed a degree in Medical Science at La Trobe University and Master of Public Health - Health Services Management from the University of Melbourne, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management.

Katherine Wray


Director of Finance

With over 20 years’ experience in accounting and finance, Katherine has held various leadership roles both in Australia and overseas.

A Certified Management Accountant (CMA) Katherine also holds a Bachelor of International Business and a Masters of Accounting.

Previously Katherine worked for Providence Health & Services (USA) and TP Systems (Canada) as well as several roles across the hospitality and mining sectors in Perth.

Colin Young


Commercial Lead and Director of Performance Improvement 

Colin has more than 20 years’ experience working in private health care.

Colin is a Certified Practicing Accountant, has completed a Masters of Accounting from Curtin University and a Graduate Certificate in Leadership and Catholic Culture and is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Health Service Management as well as a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Colin has worked at St John of God Health Care for more than 15 years and held senior management positions at St John of God Murdoch and Subiaco Hospitals as well as Group Services.
