Ben Edwards - Chief Executive Officer

Ben Edwards was appointed to the position of Chief Executive Officer of St John of God Murdoch Hospital in April 2017. He was previously Acting CEO at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital and prior to this role, he led the Transformation Team’s innovative work on the One Pathology Program, Procedural Areas Transformation Program and Business Analytics and Reporting Program.  

 

Ben’s early career involved six years in the NHS in the UK. He completed their graduate management program and ran all clinical services across a multi campus NHS Trust. He then spent 10 years in health care consulting in the UK and Australia with Ernst and Young and PriceWaterhouseCoopers before joining St John of God Healthcare.

Andrew Wesseldine - Director Medical Services

Andrew Wesseldine joined Murdoch Hospital in 2021. A dual trained General Physician, Geriatrician and Stroke Physician, Andrew has held a multitude of leadership positions including Head of Department of General Medicine and Director Post Graduate Medicine at St John of God Subiaco Hospital, WA State Stroke Director, Director Clinical Innovation and Reform and Deputy Director Medical Services at Joondalup Health Campus. He was born in New Zealand and moved to Perth in 2002 to complete his training. 

Sarah-Jayne Powell - Director of Nursing and Patient Experience

Sarah-Jayne has been at Murdoch Hospital since 1998, having commenced her career as a registered Nurse in Orthopaedics, then progressing through the Hospital  in a range of Nursing roles, including Nurse Manager positions.  Sarah-Jayne held the position of Deputy Director of Surgical and Midwifery Services from 2015-2019. 

Sarah-Jayne holds a Bachelor of Nursing along with The Catherine McCauley Award for developing women in Leadership and Service Sarah-Jayne also holds Post Graduate certificates in Clinical Nursing, Orthopaedics, Frontline Management and Leadership and Catholic Culture.

Dilwyn Griffiths - Director of Finance

Dilwyn joined St John of God Health Care in 2015. Originally from Zimbabwe, Dilwyn completed his studies in the UK and holds ACA (ICAEW). Having started his career in auditing Dilwyn has gone on to work in a diverse range of industries from construction to dot com, manufacturing to mining, all providing the experience brought to his current role with SJGHC.

Michael Salter - Director Corporate Services

Michael has worked with St John of God Health Care for 12 years and commenced with St John of God Murdoch Hospital in August 2017.  Michael has extensive experience at an executive leadership level across the public health sector and St John of God Heath care. He previously oversaw facilities management across St John of God Health Care's Perth Northern Hospitals that include Midland, Mt Lawley and Subiaco.

Ben Dellar - Director Business and Services Development, Marketing and Community Relations

As a management consultant, Ben has lead change projects in the health, education and resources sectors. When significant delays occurred on the Fiona Stanley Hospital build, Ben was engaged to oversee the recovery process. In his time at St John of God Healthcare (Group) Ben developed the Clinical Command Centres in Murdoch, Subiaco and Geelong, patient admission portal, VMO app, Net Promoter Score patient satisfaction program and supported accreditation processes across all St John of God Health Care hospitals.

Kirstie Bennett - Director Organisation Development and Improvement 

Kirstie has a broad range of international experience in optimising performance in health care organisations. She was most recently a Director in PwC's Healthcare Consulting Practice and prior to this, held a range of positions in government in the United Kingdom. Kirstie has a Masters in Business Administration and has extensive experience in hospital commissioning and operations, process improvement, workforce development and optimisation, and talent management.  

Helene Bordas - Director of Mission Integration

Helene has extensive professional experience in management consulting, operational improvement and service design in health care. Helene has previously held several roles within St John of God Health Care, in which she has led the development and implementation of new services, strategic projects and initiatives to improve patient experience. In addition to qualifications in Social Science, Commerce and Project Management, Helene has completed the AICD Company Directors Course and is currently completing a Graduate Diploma in Theology at the University of Notre Dame.

 

Chinar Goel - Mental Health Lead

 

Chinar is an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with specialist experience in Youth and Peri-natal Psychiatry. She has a recovery focussed approach with an aim of empowering and educating the patient and families about their mental health issues. She has been working as a Consultant Psychiatrist for the last 9 years both in Perth and in the United Kingdom with previous roles as Head of Department at Fiona Stanley Hospital and King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women and Newborn Psychological Medicine Services. Her passion for service improvement and service development attracts her into these leadership positions. In addition, Chinar has completed Post-graduate training in Psychiatry in the UK prior to working as a Consultant Psychiatrist there for 4 years before moving to Perth.

 

Sarah Davies - Procurement Director 

 

Sarah Davies bring a wealth of healthcare procurement experience to Murdoch. She is fully MCIPS qualified, with over 20 years Supply Chain and Contracting experience in the public and private sectors of the U.K. and Australia. Sarah has completed extensive training in the UK and WA and was shortlist for the CIPS UK Young Professional of the Year in London as well as an Australia CIPSA Regional (WA) Committee member which developed into the role as CIPSA (WA) Regional Vice Chair.
