Free mental health support over Christmas and New Year

While the holidays can be filled with fun and social times, for those experiencing distress, isolation or mental health issues, they can sometimes be fraught and lonely.

Armadale and Midland Medicare Mental Health Centres in Perth are open from 10.00am to 8.00pm every single day of the year, including all public holidays and weekends.

These centres are for people aged 18 years and over who are experiencing mental health and emotional issues, such as anxiety and distress.

Our services are free, and no referral or appointment is needed.

You can simply walk into the centres at any time for immediate support or to book an appointment for counselling.

“The time leading up to and throughout Christmas and New Year can sometimes be really stressful and lead to more people visiting after-hours GPs and emergency departments,” said Armadale Medicare Mental Health Centre Manager Liam Dekker.

“At the same time, many community mental health providers are closed or have reduced hours,” he said.

“We are happy to be here every single day throughout this time so people can get the free mental health and emotional support they need, when they need it — even if it’s on a weekend or public holiday.”

Medicare Mental Health Centres are designed as friendly, welcoming environments with a range of mental health professionals on hand to provide advice and support for all people aged 18 and over, as well as their families, friends and carers.
