For oncology patients at St John of God Health Care, compassionate care has always been at the heart of their treatment. Now, with the rollout of Charm® across five hospitals to date, that care is being enhanced by cutting-edge digital support.

Charm® is an oncology information management system that consolidates every stage of cancer care – from scheduling and medication management to treatment planning and documentation – into a single secure record. By providing real-time access to vital information, it helps caregivers make faster, safer and more accurate clinical decisions.

The system also strengthens collaboration between oncologists, pharmacists and nurses, streamlining workflows and ultimately improving patient outcomes.

To support its success, St John of God Health Care invested in more than 38 new workstations on wheels across all sites, ensuring caregivers can access Charm® at the point of care. Senior oncology caregivers from each hospital were also seconded as project nurses, helping to embed the system into local practice.

At St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals, the most recent site to go live, caregivers have embraced the change. Hospital CEO, Paul Dyer, visited the Chemotherapy Ward to personally thank the teams:

“We already provide outstanding levels of compassion and care for our oncology patients. A robust digital tool such as Charm® is an enhancement that will benefit caregivers and patients alike.”

Charm® is now live at Subiaco, Berwick, Murdoch, Bunbury and Midland hospitals, and with Ballarat, Geraldton and Warrnambool hospitals to follow. The program is a key part of St John of God Health Care’s new Strategy, delivering on our Integrated Care focus by ensuring patients have access to comprehensive, person-centred cancer care supported by digital excellence.
