Based on research undertaken by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC), St John of God Health Care has now published detailed, hospital-level quality and safety patient-facing information and data across key clinical indicators including medication management, infection prevention control, falls, pressure injury, as well as patient feedback. This will be updated on a quarterly basis going forward.

“This is an important step in providing transparency and openness in our clinical governance and enhancing our reputation in quality and safety,” Acting Chief Nursing Officer Caroline Zani said.

“We have worked with the Consumers Health Forum, the peak national body for consumers in health care, to determine guiding principles on the most effective way to present quality and safety information to consumers which has resulted in significant upgrades to our quality and safety reporting.”

Each St John of God Health Care hospital now has site specific patient-facing information and data easily accessible online covering:

  • Accreditation
  • Infection prevention control
  • Medication management
  • Patient falls prevention
  • Pressure injury prevention
  • Patient feedback

“This approach aligns with St John of God Health Care’s strategy commitment to transparency in clinical performance,” Caroline said.

“It is an important step in ensuring the public can easily understand our performance in quality and safety to make informed decisions, improving the data we share publicly and demonstrating our leadership in the reporting of quality and safety data.

“It is also a key way we can demonstrate our achievements towards becoming the best performing health care organisation, which is our strategic intent.”
