Introducing Jonathan Holt

We are pleased to welcome Jonathan Holt as Chief Executive Officer of St John of God Burwood and Richmond Hospitals, and Mental Health Lead for St John of God Health Care. Jonathan commences in the role on 5 May 2025.

Jonathan joins us with more than 22 years of experience in health care, including 18 years in senior leadership positions. He brings deep expertise in the design, delivery and management of mental health services.

Prior to joining St John of God Health Care, Jonathan was General Manager of Hunter New England Mental Health Services at NSW Health – one of the largest and most geographically diverse mental health services in Australia. There, he was responsible for acute, sub-acute and specialty inpatient services across eight hospitals, as well as 56 community, outpatient, specialist and state-wide mental health sites.

Jonathan holds a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy and a Master of Business Administration. He is recognised for his empowering and innovative leadership approach, grounded in a commitment to clinical excellence, continuous improvement and delivering safe, high-quality care. He is passionate about ensuring patient access and outcomes remain at the centre of service delivery and champions a co-design and partnership model of care.

Jonathan will play a key leadership role in shaping the future of mental health services at St John of God Health Care. He is committed to fostering compassionate, committed and connected care, and will be instrumental in bringing to life our Vision, Mission, and the priorities that underpin our new Strategy - recognising that Every Moment Matters.

Jonathan lives on a small farm with his wife, Naomi, and their three children aged 14, 11 and 7. When he’s not at work, he enjoys building, renovating and spending time outdoors. A passionate sports fan and active member of his local church, Jonathan also values giving back to the community and supporting those most in need.
