Dr Ponnuswamy graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from Stanley Medical College in Chennai, India. Dr Ponnuswamy undertook his post graduate training in the United Kingdom and Western Australia between 2004 and 2012.
After completing his gastroenterology training in Queensland in 2015, Dr Ponnuswamy undertook further subspecialty training in inflammatory bowel disease at Canberra Hospital. Dr Ponnuswamy is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) UK, and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP).
Dr Ponnuswamy has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopic and colonoscopy procedures, hepatology and all other aspects of gastroenterology. Dr Ponnuswamy commenced at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals in 2016 and treats both public and private patients.
