Associate Professor Philip McCahy is a general urologist with a specialised interest in stone disease. He consults at the Melbourne Urology Centre at St John of God Berwick Specialist Centre at 55 Kangan Drive, Berwick.
Philip qualified MB BS in 1987 from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. He completed surgery and urology training in NE England, Tanzania and Melbourne, gaining Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1992 and the Intercollegiate Fellowship in Urology in 1997. He was a consultant urologist in the UK from 1998 until he moved to Australia in early 2007. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2008. He has an appointment at Monash University where he runs a popular tutorial program for medical students and engages in clinical research with over 100 published papers/articles.
He is also Clinical Director of the Victorian Audit of Surgical Mortality at the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, is a member of the Victorian Perioperative Consultative Council and leads regular surgical trips to Pacific Islands. He provides regular services to rural Victoria, with clinics in Drouin and Sale and operates at Central Gippsland hospitals.
