Dr Shane Gangatharan graduated from the University of Western Australia in 2001. He trained in clinical and laboratory haematology in Perth teaching hospitals as well as the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, Melbourne. Following admission to the RACP and RCPA he completed a two-year Lymphoma Fellowship at the Princess Margaret Cancer Center, Toronto, Canada.  In addition to private consulting, he works publicly at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Dr Gangatharan has an interest in malignant and general haematology. He has multiple research papers covering myeloma, leukaemia and lymphoma. In addition to his clinical and laboratory work he is involved in lecturing UWA medical students. He is also active in the survivorship, adolescent and young adult collaborative groups, as part of the WA Cancer and Palliative Care Network.  He is a member of the Australasian Lymphoma Alliance, and the eviQ Haematology Reference Committee.
