Dr Asangaedem (or Asan) Akpan is a British trained geriatrician who now lives and works in Bunbury. He has general and specialist qualifications in geriatric medicine recognised by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and Ahpra.

Dr Akpan is also a Consultant Geriatrician at Bunbury Regional Hospital, Adjunct Associate Professor at the University of Western Australia and Adjunct Clinical Associate Professor in the Medical School of Curtin University. He is an expert in the comprehensive care of older people, aged 65 years and over, who have multiple chronic conditions with polypharmacy. Dr Akpan is able to proactively identify deterioration, mitigate the progression of multiple chronic conditions and support people and their loved ones with what matters to them. Dr Akpan works closely with multidisciplinary teams to optimise the care of older people who have suffered a fractured neck of femur and require rehabilitation and support. 

Dr Akpan is actively involved in research and service developments with and for older people to improve the quality of their care.
