Dr Robert Ma is a vascular and endovascular surgeon at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. He offers a no-gap service for patients with arterial pathology and urgent referrals are accepted and will be treated accordingly. Robert is well-known for his expertise in both minimally invasive and open surgical intervention, and is well-versed to guide patients in choosing the best approach for their disease.
Dr Ma manages diseases of veins, arteries and renal access. He is able to perform either endovascular, open and/or hybrid surgical procedures, to provide the best possible solution for patients. Robert manages both public and private patients and practices on a no-gap basis. He has accreditation in a number of public and private hospitals when caring for patients.
Background and training
Mr Robert Ma completed his Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) with Honours at University of New South Wales in 2011. He undertook extensive vascular and endovascular training in Australia and overseas before being awarded Vascular Fellowship by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS – Vasc) in 2018.
Robert's training developed his expertise for renal access management in dialysis patients, and venous access procedures for infusions. Robert worked as a vascular surgery and renal access consultant in Waikato Hospital, New Zealand, before relocating to Western Australia in March 2019.
Robert has key interests in developing community services in WA and was instrumental in forming the Multidisciplinary Diabetic Foot Unit at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital.
