NAIDOC Week event enjoyed by members of the community
To recognise the start of NAIDOC Week and the contribution of Australia’s First Peoples, Aboriginal Elder Joshua McGuire was invited by St John of God Subiaco Hospital to host a traditional Smoking Ceremony – an Aboriginal custom that involves burning various native plants to produce smoke, which has cleansing properties and the ability to ward off bad spirits from the people and the land and make a pathway for a brighter future.
