Did you know St John of God Social Outreach provides low or no-cost mental health, homelessness and capacity development services at 52 locations across Australia and the Asia Pacific?

We’re able to do this thanks to an allocation of revenue from St John of God Health Care, as well as the generous support of government and private funders, to provide free services in areas of unmet need and as a not-for-profit organisation, so we’d like to thank each person who has used our hospitals and services for making it happen.

Because of you, over the past year St John of God Social Outreach’s eight community-based services were able to be delivered to 6,421 people and included 43,000 nights of stable accommodation for people at risk of homelessness and 28,159 teleheath counselling sessions.

We also opened a new walk-in mental health support centre in Perth’s east and saw a 50 per cent increase the amount of clients sessions provided at our Mental Wellbeing Services in just 12 months.

Our Social Outreach services include:

  • Midland Head to Health - opened in March 2022, providing free, walk-in mental health advice, support and specialist care, every day of the year
  • Mental Wellbeing Services - providing low or no-cost counselling and therapy
  • Raphael Services - providing specialist pregnancy and early childhood mental health support for parents, including free therapy and support
  • International Health - partnering on the ground to transform healthcare systems in the Asia Pacific
  • Drug and Alcohol Withdrawal Network - providing free and confidential in-home drug and alcohol withdrawal support
  • South West Community and Alcohol Drug Service - providing free alcohol and drug counselling and education
  • Horizon House - providing a safe home, care and support for young people at risk of homelessness
  • Casa Venegas - providing a safe home, personalised wellbeing care and everyday support for adults with mental health concerns experiencing, or at risk of, homelessness

The purpose of our services is to develop capacity and support the physical and emotional wellness of people in communities that need it.

We believe everyone deserves the compassionate care and support they need to live a full life, so we make our Social Outreach services free or low cost, so they’re accessible to everyone.
It’s why we’re always looking for new opportunities to make a difference - wherever those opportunities arise - and it’s how we empower individuals, families and communities across Australia and beyond to transform their lives.
