Dr Paramanathan completed her undergraduate medical degree with honours at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

She then pursued specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in Dublin across several large tertiary maternity units. Following this she undertook a one year fellowship training in gynaecological oncology at Mercy Hospital for Women in Melbourne in 2011. She has worked as an obstetrician and gynaecologist across several countries including Ireland, New Zealand and Australia.

As an experienced obstetrician and gynaecologist, she offers treatment and support for the following:

• endometriosis and chronic pelvic pain
• menstrual disorders including heavy periods
• uterine polyps
• ovarian cysts
• abnormal cervical screening tests
• vulval disorders
• polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
• fibroids
• urinary incontinence
• prolapse
• pelvic infections
• menopause
• postmenopausal vaginal bleeding.

Dr Paramanathan has a special interest in laparoscopic surgery and performs laparoscopic hysterectomy, ovarian cystectomy and laparoscopic surgery for endometriosis. She also performs colposcopy examinations for women with abnormal cervical screening tests and performs LLETZ treatment for women with high grade cervical abnormalities in the outpatient setting. In addition, she also performs vaginoscopy and vulvoscopy.

Dr Paramanathan is the Head of Department in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at St John of God Midland Public and Private Hospitals and focuses on the delivery of high quality, safe care that empowers women.
