Dr Chatura Jayasekera is a procedural Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist.

He graduated with Honours from The University of Melbourne Medical School and completed his specialist Gastroenterology training at The Alfred Hospital and St Vincent’s Hospital in Melbourne.

He has recently completed a fellowship at St Vincent’s Hospital in advanced endoscopy, in particular focusing on the endoscopic management of Barrett’s oesophagus.

He has presented this research at both local and national conferences and published this work in international gastroenterology journals. This work has gone towards completing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) through the Department of Medicine at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Chatura Jayasekera continues to maintain a broad range of interests in all areas of Gastroenterology including endoscopy, capsule endoscopy, hepatology, viral hepatitis, inflammatory bowel disease and functional bowel disorders.

He attends yearly national and international conferences to maintain his professional knowledge.

He has an appointment in the Department of Gastroenterology, Royal Melbourne Hospital, and works privately at St John of God Bendigo Hospital.

He provides a holist approach to patient care with the goal of improving health outcomes.

This is achieved by close liaison with the referring doctor and allied staff both through direct discussion of important information and prompt correspondence.

As well as a caring and professional approach to the patient.
