Meet our caregivers
A sponsorship from St John of God Geraldton Hospital allowed Lisa Alindao Fabello to pursue a career as a sterilisation operator. We spoke to her about what she does and what she enjoys about her work.

What work do you do at St John of God Geraldton Hospital?

I am currently working in the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) as a sterilisation operator and have been since February 2016.

I started working here in January 2015 with the Support Services team, until I was offered a position in CSSD.

What study did you do to become a sterilisation operator?

St John of God Geraldton Hospital sponsored me and paid my study fees to undertake a Certificate III in Sterilisation Services with South Metropolitan TAFE in Perth, which I finished on 18th May 2018.

This has given me the opportunity to increase my skill level and I can now say I’m confident in my role as a sterilisation operator.

What do you like about your work?

I really enjoy my job here at St John of God Geraldton Hospital as I love to care for people.

This job makes me feel better knowing that I am a part of the process to ensure that patients are getting the best care.

I really enjoy working in the positive environment that Geraldton provides with a great team of people. I especially enjoy the smiles on their faces that I see every day.

I am very grateful that I have had the opportunity to become a part of the CSSD Team and a part of the community here in Geraldton.
