Pastoral services
Helping you express yourself creatively and use different techniques to help you relax is all part of the pastoral services offering at St John of God Health Care.

Pastoral care is offered to you as a part of your care when you come to a St John of God Health Care hospital, to help address your emotional needs while you recover in hospital.

Our practitioners are always looking at new ways to help you, and tailoring care to meet your interests and needs.

Pastoral Practitioner Natalie Kay says this includes offering colouring activities to help you de-stress, relax and meditate.

“We look for all possible ways to benefit patients when providing spiritual care and emotional support,” Natalie says.

“Colouring in can generate wellness and quietness and stimulate brain areas related to motor skills, the senses and creativity.

“Colouring in is one way to shift attention – even if you can’t change your physical circumstances, you can focus your perspective when participating in therapeutic activities.

“It’s also great time filler when waiting alone in a hospital room.”

What other activities may be offered?

We also offer a range of other creative activities, including music, storytelling, journaling, guided meditations, prayer and religious rituals for those who identify with specific faith or Christian denominations.
