Rebecca Mulvogue, from St John of God Accord, has been awarded the prestigious Bridget Clancy Scholarship, supporting her pursuit of a Graduate Certificate in Business Psychology.

The scholarship supports caregivers undertaking or intending to undertake undergraduate or postgraduate studies in leadership development or fields related to women’s health.

With a strong focus on addressing psychological and physical hazards and strategic planning, Rebecca is eager to make a lasting impact on workplace safety and wellbeing.

Reflecting on her decision to undertake postgraduate studies, Rebecca admits she originally felt conflicted.

“I initially felt selfish, as a mum, when signing up for a post-graduate course. I thought, why am I committing all of this time and money to myself when I could be using that to fund my children’s activities and education?” she said.

However, Rebecca soon recognised the broader benefits of education.

“That’s the amazing thing about educating yourself—it then educates all of those around you. It also has a positive impact through role modelling and, in my situation, more opportunities for my little ones in the long term.”

The Bridget Clancy Scholarship has eased the financial burden of studying, allowing Rebecca to focus on her passion for workplace safety without the added stress.

“I’m so grateful the scholarship has taken the weight off the financial impact of studying. It allows me to keep looking for what’s next beyond this course, and making an impact.”

Rebecca is particularly appreciative of St John of God Health Care’s commitment to learning and professional growth.

“I love working for an organisation that values education. It’s rewarding every day to work for an organisation that truly lives and breathes its Values, like Excellence. I see evidence of this daily.”

As she continues her studies, Rebecca is already applying her knowledge in real-time to improve workplace culture.

“I hope to impact safety and wellbeing through a well-rounded and positive culture that is embedded in research and best practice. I’m already leveraging my role, ideas, and actions every day with what I’m learning.”

She also acknowledges the strength of St John of God Health Care’s workplace recognition programs.

“As far as St John of God Health Care’s wellbeing strategies go, I think we’re nailing the rewards and recognition aspect of our workplace benefits with initiatives like scholarships. There are so many moments of excellence, flexibility, and opportunities to celebrate that you don’t get elsewhere, and that means a lot to me and my family.”

Congratulations, Rebecca, on your well-deserved scholarship. Your dedication to workplace wellbeing and continuous learning exemplifies the Values of St John of God Health Care, and we look forward to seeing the impact of your work in the future.
