Suj is an Australian trained Specialist General Surgeon with an emphasis on technical proficiency and holistic care. Suj is fully accredited with the Conjoint Committee to perform both gastroscopy and colonoscopy. He holds a teaching position with Deakin University, is a Senior lecturer with the University of Tasmania and is an instructor with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (ASSET).

Suj is currently appointed to the Ballarat Base Hospital as a Consultant General Surgeon in the Acute Surgical and General Surgery Units as well as St John of God Hospital Ballarat and Ballarat Day Procedure Unit. Suj also visits Colac regularly where he both consults and operates, providing service to both public and private patients.

Suj was born in Botswana, grew up in South Africa and relocated to Australia in 2000 where his medical studies began. He graduated from the University of Tasmania in 2008, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College Surgeons in 2018 through the Victorian South West Regional Hub, which included time in Geelong, Ballarat, Colac, Warrnambool, Darwin and the Alfred Hospital.

Suj is one of the first surgeons in Australia to be completely trained in a regional and rural setting from medical school through to the end of his fellowship. These experiences along with his upbringing, inspired his passion for providing exceptional health care in regional Victoria.After his Fellowship training, Suj completed a fellowship year in colorectal, breast and endocrine surgery at the Launceston General Hospital in Tasmania. He then returned to Ballarat Base Hospital to complete another fellowship year focusing on Emergency General Surgery.

He has broad surgical experience with interests in trauma and emergency general surgery, colorectal, breast, hernia, gall bladder surgery, skin cancer and melanoma surgery, hand surgery and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy).

Outside of surgery, Suj enjoys spending time with his wife, Lyndsie, daughter, Sofia and his two Labradors (Winston and Gordon). He is a sports enthusiast and enjoys playing cricket, tennis and golf.
