Where we are
Emily graduated Medicine with honours from Monash University in 2002. She worked in emergency medicine, general practice and palliative care before beginning specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology in 2008.
Emily trained in obstetrics and gynaecology at the Mercy Hospital for Women and the Northern Hospital. She also gained experience working in rural and remote Australia, and East Africa. Her advanced training was completed in northwest Tasmania and in Geelong.
In 2015, Emily was appointed as a staff specialist at the University Hospital Geelong, where she still works in both obstetrics and gynaecology. In 2022, she also completed a masters degree in public health, graduating with honours.
Emily remains active in teaching and training for medical students and junior doctors and is on the board of examiners for the Royal Australian College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG). She has published research in her areas of interest, which are primarily maternal critical illness, obstetric medical conditions, and service provision for women in regional, rural and remote areas.
Emily works with her colleagues at Geelong Maternity & Gynaecology to provide a comprehensive and collaborative all risk model of pregnancy care. Emily also offers comprehensive pre-conception counselling and management of early pregnancy complications such as miscarriage and ectopic pregnancy.
Emily considers being a doctor to be a great privilege, and she really loves it! She especially loves obstetrics for the opportunity it gives her to truly meet people and help them safely navigate a precious, exciting and yet vulnerable stage of life. She hopes to continue providing a service to the community of Geelong and surrounds for many years to come.
