Dr Caroline Crabb is a Consultant Psychiatrist with a clinical focus in perinatal psychiatry. Caroline currently works in a Psychiatry Consultant Consultation-Liaison role within a tertiary maternity and women’s hospital (King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women and Newborns) where she also works on the (inpatient psychiatric) Mother and Baby Unit.

She has worked across several services within KEMH including the State WANDAS (Women and Newborn Drug and Alcohol Service), Genetics Service and Fetal-Maternal Medicine. During her fellowship perinatal training Caroline worked at the Fiona Stanley Hospital Mother and Baby Unit, the Rockingham and Peel Perinatal Mental Health Service and the St John of God Raphael Service.

Caroline previously worked for many years as a GP specialising in women’s health. She has presented on her field at local and international congresses and regularly teaches junior medical staff and allied health professionals as well as General Practitioner perinatal psychiatry workshops.

Caroline has interests in:

• Pre-conception counselling to provide advice about medication choices, lifestyle and mental illness in preparation for pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Management of mental illness and psychotropic during medications during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
• Treatment of newly arising maternal mental illness, including anxiety, depression and post-partum psychosis (12 months following delivery).
• Management of mother-infant relationship issues.
