422 photo submissions were received this year - a record number of entries for the competition.

St John of God Raphael Services Director Community Mental Health Services Anna-Marie Thompson said there was a diverse range of photos capturing positive relationships across generations among this year’s entrants.

“Male role models come in all shapes and sizes, but the relationship between a child and the significant man in their life is crucial to shaping their understanding of the world and contributes to long-term wellbeing outcomes,” Anna said.

The Healthy Men, Healthy Minds competition was held to raise awareness of the one-in-10 Australian dads experiencing perinatal anxiety and depression.

Anna said the competition was also a great opportunity to highlight the free emotional support available through St John of God Raphael Services for new parents who might be struggling.

A panel of judges will now select an overall winner who will receive a DJI Mini SE drone and two runners up, who will each receive a $50 Coles Group and Myer voucher.

Judges include Ngala HIPPY Midland Coordinator Tonia Leonard, professional photographer Sean Middleton, St John of God Social Outreach Director Community Mental Health Services Anna-Marie Thompson and Manager Raphael Services Victoria West Janet Foggin.

Winners will be announced on the St John of God Health Care Facebook page and the St John of God Health Care website on Thursday 7 July 2022.

Congratulations to all the finalists.
