Winner of the 2022 St John of God Health Care Jennifer Stratton Scholarship announced

Emma has been a part of the South West Community Alcohol and Drug Service (SWCADS) in Bunbury, WA for over 12 years and currently works as an Alcohol and Drug Counsellor supporting clients and their families through issues with alcohol and other drugs. 

Emma was nominated for the Scholarship by Simone Dayer, Team Leader, Counselling, for her unwavering commitment to excellence in her role and for going over and above to ensure the best outcomes for her clients. “We are so excited for Emma and so proud of her. She is a well-deserving recipient!” Simone said.

Emma says she’s expecting to gain a lot from the experience, both personally and professionally. 

“I suspect it will be very much a personal journey. Achieving personal growth that I can bring back with me and put into my work, not only with my clients, but also my team and the community is my main goal. It will be something I’ll share, not through words, but through behaviour and the way in which I work”.

The Jennifer Stratton Scholarship is a formation opportunity as the recipient is invited on the organisation’s pilgrimage to Spain.

The scholarship recognises caregivers who demonstrate an outstanding example of the Vision, Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care in their daily interactions with other caregivers, patients, clients or others. We are privileged to have many caregivers at our hospitals and services who exemplify these qualities.

Jennifer Stratton was the first lay Group Director of Mission and contributed significantly to the organisational understanding and application of the Vision, Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care.

Emma will begin pilgrimage in Granada, Spain in April 2023. Congratulations again, Emma, we wish you all the best on this journey ahead.
