As part of the Streetface initiative, 40 portraits of Aboriginal women, who have been nominated by peers or elders from within the Indigenous community in Geelong, for their contributions and influence within their respective families and communities – are being displayed as street art in various locations around Geelong.

Veronica assists the organisers of the Koorie Youth Group, which provides a weekly space for Indigenous young people to come together and participate in a variety of cultural activities as well as network with each other.

She was nominated for Streetface NAIDOC by her mother, Michelle who said Veronica had inspired her to begin working with people experiencing homelessness.

Veronica’s Streetface portrait can be found at the Geelong Arena and University Hospital, Geelong.

The 2018 NAIDOC Week theme, Because of her, we can, recognises the role Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women have played and continue to play as pillars of our society.

The St John of God Health Care Horizon House Program exists to give at-risk young people a home, hope and life-changing support to establish and maintain their independence.
