Easter is a time for celebration.

For months we have been bombarded with hot cross buns and chocolate eggs. So when Easter rolls around, you want to be able to enjoy the experience – minus the chocolate coma! It’s important to remember that having a healthy Easter is not about banning the Easter bunny. Choosing to have a few extra chocolates at Easter wont undo your healthy diet.

Our top four tips for surviving Easter:

1. Caution with portions

Enjoy your favourite Easter treats in small amounts. Aim to buy individually wrapped chocolates. Keep chocolates as a treat for a single time of day, either in the afternoon or after dinner.

2. Aim for dark chocolate

The benefits for eating dark chocolate are endless. High in protective antioxidants and low in added sugar. More importantly, it is easier to eat in moderation and leave you feeling satisfied.

3. Savour every mouthful

By eating too quickly, our brains don’t have a change to recognise the food we have eaten. Trying eating chocolate mindfully - noticing the texture and flavour.

4. Don’t forget to get some fresh air

Try to include some social time with family and friends through physical activity. Aim for 30 minutes per day of exercise during the Easter break. This could include a game of cricket or going for a walk.

Have a safe and happy Easter.
