Lent and Easter are the most significant times in the Christian calendar. As a Catholic healthcare provider, they are therefore important times for St John of God Health Care explains Director of Mission Integration Group Services Martin Loney.

Traditionally, Lent is the period of 40 days of sacrifice, reflection, prayer and personal renewal, which ends on Holy Thursday, the Thursday before Easter Sunday.

This year, at St John of God Health Care, we are focused on bringing to life our value of hospitality. For us Hospitality means demonstrating a welcoming openness to all.

Lent provides an opportunity to reflect deeply on hospitality and to ask ourselves how we can grow in being hospitable to those we serve and each other.

Whatever your role, background or faith position this is something we can all do and, no matter how small the action, it can make the world of difference.

Feedback from our patients and all we serve is testament to this, with many explaining that is was the openness and warmth of the caregivers, which made their experience so positive.
