Kimberley Montgomery commences as Orthonova Commissioning Director – Nursing; and Dr Alex Swann, as Orthonova Commissioning Director – Medical.

Both roles will provide strategic operational and clinical leadership for Orthonova, with a focus on embedding the highest standards of patient safety, clinical excellence, patient experience and operational efficiency.

Ms Montgomery will transition to the full-time role from her former position, St John of God Murdoch Hospital Deputy Director – Nursing, Specialist Services.

Dr Swann will assume the new role part-time, while maintaining his existing role as Director of Anaesthetics and Pain Management at St John of God Murdoch Hospital.

Orthonova Orthopaedic Hospital, to be built on the St John of God Murdoch Hospital campus by late 2026, is the first specialist orthopaedic hospital of its kind in Western Australia.

Under an innovative joint venture, 24 of Perth’s most respected orthopaedic surgeons have joined forces with St John of God Health Care to develop and operate the hospital.

St John of God Health Care Chief Operating Officer, Ben Edwards said bedding down Orthonova’s clinical leadership team early in the project was an important step in realising the hospital’s end vision.

“When you have surgery at Orthonova, you will receive world-class orthopaedics care, plus all the comforts of a five-star hotel. It will be beyond what you would typically expect,” Mr Edwards said.

“We now add Kimberley and Alex’s extensive clinical experience to that of the esteemed orthopaedic surgeons we have been working with from day one,” Mr Edwards said.

“This truly will be a hospital designed by clinicians, together with patients, with the very best patient care and comfort at the heart of all decisions.”

Orthonova Orthopaedics Hospital will offer world-class joint replacement and sports surgeries, using cutting-edge robotics and the most advanced surgical techniques.

High-end, contemporary finishes will feature throughout the lobby, patient lounges and private suites, and fresh, healthy meals will be served to patients via on-demand room service – a service which has been immensely popular since its launch at St John of God Murdoch Hospital five years ago.

A linking corridor will connect Orthonova Orthopaedic Hospital to St John of God Murdoch’s existing 510-bed hospital.
