Several years ago Prof Monterosso developed the FIN-PED II (Family Inventory of Needs) a survey tool for parents of children with cancer to determine their needs in relation to the care provided to their child undergoing treatment. The tool is the only tool of its kind available for this group of families.

It has been translated into six languages now including Rwanda, Arabic and Lebanese.

“The tool is about to be published in Turkish in the Turkish Journal of Oncology which is very exciting,” Prof Monterosso said.

“The tool is also currently undergoing translation into German by a German Palliative Care Physician, and into Thai by a Thai PhD student at QUT in Brisbane.”
