Medical technology and robotic assisted surgery
St John of God Subiaco Hospital has a proud history of introducing surgical innovations to Western Australia and is a pioneer of robotic surgery.
In 2007, we became the first hospital in WA to offer robotically assisted urology procedures using the da Vinci Surgical System. Today, this advanced technology is used by our surgeons across general, cardiothoracic and gynaecology procedures.
The hospital was also the first in Australia to install the Mako Surgical Robot for minimally invasive orthopaedic procedures. In 2025, we became the first hospital in the Southern Hemisphere to perform 5,000 surgeries using the device, giving patients confidence their care is delivered by a highly experienced and skilled team.
Other notable firsts include the introduction of Intra-operative Radiation Therapy (IORT) for breast cancer treatment, and Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI), a minimally invasive procedure used to treat aortic stenosis.

After-hours GP
Our after-hours GP clinic provides care for minor illnesses and injuries when you cannot wait until the next day to see your doctor. No referral is required.
The service is located on level 1 of the hospital.
Due to redevelopment works, the car park at the front of the practice (off Cambridge St) is closed.
Parking is available in the underground car park off McCourt St (including 5 allocated patient parking bays) and on adjacent streets.
