Our graduate mental health nurse program is designed to expose you to a range of clinical experiences within the mental health setting. Our dedicated and skilled interdisciplinary mental health teams will support you to become a mental health nurse equipped to help vulnerable clients and patients on their journey to recovery. This will include a focus on improving psychological, physical and spiritual wellbeing.

You will have the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of mental health services such as:

• inpatient mental health
• drug and alcohol services
• perinatal mental health
• psychiatric outpatient programs

Our graduate midwife program is designed to give you a variety of experiences as a graduate midwife within a supported, nurturing and rewarding environment. Our program supports graduate midwives to provide high- quality care in all aspects of pregnancy, birth and postnatal care on our maternity wards, birth suites, and antenatal clinics, in addition to caring for babies in our special care nurseries. For dual registered graduates, opportunities exist to rotate across general wards to consolidate your nursing qualification in addition to your midwifery.

Our perioperative nurse program is designed to give you a range of clinical experiences within the perioperative environment. It includes rotations in the scrub/scout role, anaesthetics, and the post anaesthetic care units (PACU). Our dedicated and skilled perioperative teams will support you to provide excellent clinical care at all stages of the perioperative journey, from pre-surgery, in theatre and post-surgery.

You will have the opportunity to be exposed to a variety of surgical specialties such as:

• cardiothoracics
• acute surgical care
• emergency surgery
• neurosurgery
• orthopaedics
• paediatrics

To apply for a graduate nurse or midwife program in Victoria and New South Wales, you will need to create an account (if you don't have one already) and submit your application online via our careers portal.

Before applications open, you can prepare documents, including your:

Applications for a graduate nurse or midwife role in Western Australia should be made via GradConnect.

Once applications have closed, the hiring manager will review your application against the selection criteria for our graduate programs. If you are shortlisted, our team will invite you to participate in an online assessment. 

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a brief online questionnaire to understand your motivators and strengths. 

Suitable applicants will be progressed to complete an in-person interview onsite or via MS Teams. In some circumstances your interview may be via a recorded video interview. We’ll let you know how to best prepare for your interview and what to expect.

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of our recruitment process, our team will request you submit a clinical placement report or seek your permission to contact at least one of your professional referees.

Assessment centre

• There is no right or wrong answer. Select the answer that best reflects how you would typically behave or respond.
• We are wanting to understand more about your motivators, strengths and any development needs.

Interviews

• Be yourself, the interview panel is curious to know why you want to join our team.
• Allow time for parking.
• Use STAR (Situation, Task, Action, Result) to respond to behavioural interview questions.
• Consider using a headset to assist with sound quality for video interviews.
