Careers

We'll care for you so you can care for others.

Careers with purpose

Build a meaningful career in a supportive, Mission-driven organisation where your work makes a difference.

Whether you care for patients directly or support the teams who do, you’ll be part of a community of caregivers working together to provide compassionate, committed and connected care.

Established in 1895 by the Sisters of St John of God, we remain inspired by their spirit to go beyond what might be expected.

Today, we are one of Australia’s largest private hospital operators and not-for-profit Catholic health care providers. We operate 25 health care facilities and employ more than 15,000 dedicated caregivers across Australia, New Zealand and the wider Asia-Pacific region.

We call everyone who works with us a caregiver, recognising the valuable contribution every person makes to the health and wellbeing of those we serve.

Inclusion

St John of God Health Care is a ministry of the Catholic Church, whose Catholic social teaching is built upon the recognition of the inherent dignity of every person. Human dignity is the central element for a culture of inclusion in the workplace.

Our culture of inclusion reflects an environment that is respectful and safe, welcoming and accessible, unified and diverse.

Aboriginal Employment Framework

St John of God Health Care is committed to providing culturally safe workplaces that recognise and value the contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Our Reconciliation Action Plan, with a focus on relationships, opportunities, respect and governance is aligned to the 5 key pillars of the Aboriginal Employment Framework.

  1. Increasing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employment.
  2. Promoting cultural capability and awareness.
  3. Supporting career development and progression.
  4. Enhancing workplace cultural safety.
  5. Engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

The Aboriginal Employment Framework sets the foundation for increasing employment opportunities for Aboriginal people across our organisation. Through this framework, we celebrate diversity and create a more inclusive culture that reflects the communities we serve and enriches the care we provide to Aboriginal patients.

Disability employment

For many people with disability there can be barriers to accessing meaningful employment opportunities. We are committed to supporting people with disability to apply for roles, access meaningful employment and build their careers with us.

Student placements

We partner directly with education providers to offer student placements and integrated learning opportunities to those who require experience as part of their TAFE or university studies across many clinical areas.
