Many urological procedures can be performed as day surgery however, you may also need to stay at one of our hospitals overnight or for several days depending on the procedure you have, your surgeon will discuss this with you.

Prostate cancer treatment

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australian men, but with early detection, it can be cured. Our surgeons focus on early detection, as well as giving you access to the most advanced robotic surgical techniques, along with brachytherapy and state-of-the-art radiation treatments.

Prostatectomy

A prostatectomy is the removal of all or part of the prostate gland. This procedure is generally used to treat cancer or non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate gland. Our experienced urologists use advanced minimally invasive techniques to treat prostate cancer such as laparoscopic surgery and robotic assisted laparoscopic surgery.

Our specialists are trained in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia which is the non-cancerous enlargement of the prostate. A procedure called green light laser prostatectomy is used to vaporise all excess prostate tissue causing the enlargement.

Robotic-assisted urological surgery

Many of our hospitals are equipped with the da Vinci Xi Surgical System to support minimally invasive urological surgery. This advanced technology helps surgeons perform prostate, kidney and bladder procedures with enhanced precision, control and vision through small incisions.

For some patients, this minimally invasive approach may result in less pain, a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery. Your specialist will discuss whether robotic-assisted surgery is suitable for your health needs.
