What to expect when having dental surgery
When you have dental surgery in hospital, it’s likely that you’ll be placed under general anaesthetic, so you are not awake and aware of the procedure and don’t feel any pain. General anaesthetic puts you to sleep while letting the surgeon perform complex work on your teeth and jaw.
Your doctor will advise if you will be able to go home on the same day of your procedure or if you will need to stay overnight at hospital to recover.
Your recovery
Following your dental surgery, oral medication may be prescribed for further pain relief. Our caregivers will provide follow-up care, to ensure you recover fully. Your diet may be restricted as you might find it difficult to eat certain foods for a short while. Please don’t hesitate to ask us if you have any questions.
