Premium patient suites set new level of excellence
31 Jul 2025
St John of God Subiaco Hospital has become the first hospital in Western Australia to introduce premium patient suites, redefining the private hospital experience for patients and their visitors.
The premium suites, referred to as The Suites, have been made possible thanks to the philanthropic vision of Hancock Executive Chairman Mrs Gina Rinehart AO and the support of the Rinehart Medical Foundation.
St John of God Subiaco Hospital Director of Redevelopment Daniel Price said the hospital was delighted to launch the two suites, which are unrivalled in Australia.
“From the moment patients staying at The Suites arrive onsite, they will experience a new level of excellence, comfort and privacy,” he said.
“Both suites feature a lounge area, generous ensuite, temporary overnight accommodation for family and visitors, and a kitchenette which includes a stocked fridge and tea and coffee making facilities.
”I am confident there will be high demand for The Suites, not only amongst members of the local community, but international patients too - who specifically travel to Perth to benefit from the expertise and services of our hospital’s leading medical specialists and nursing teams.
"St John of God Subiaco Hospital offers a comprehensive range of services to meet the diverse needs and expectations of local and broader communities. Introducing this premium offering allows us to address a gap in the market while continuing to support St John of God Health Care’s health and wellbeing services that empower individuals, families, and communities across Australia."

Patients are welcome to stay in a suite if it is deemed clinically appropriate by their admitting medical specialist and the hospital.
People staying in The Suites will receive the same high quality, safe clinical care that is provided to all St John of God Subiaco Hospital patients.
The Suites is initially being launched as part of a 12 month pilot, which will allow the hospital to test the offering and evaluate the viability of a permanent model, as part of the hospital’s major redevelopment project.
St John of God Foundation CEO Bianca Pietralla said Mrs Rinehart and the Rinehart Medical Foundation have a long history of philanthropic leadership in health care in Western Australia and nationally.
“St John of God Foundation and St John of God Subiaco Hospital are grateful to Mrs Rinehart and The Rinehart Medical Foundation for their generous philanthropic support,” she said.
“St John of God Health Care has a long and valued relationship with Mrs Rinehart. The Rinehart Medical Foundation was a significant contributor to the establishment of the hospital’s Bendat Family Comprehensive Cancer Centre. Mrs Rinehart also donates generous patient care packages for patients who need to stay in hospital for longer than four days.”
Patients can book their stay at The Suites by contacting their specialist’s rooms. Bookings must be made on behalf of patients by medical specialists or their practice staff.
The nightly accommodation fee of The Suites is not covered by private health insurance and is in addition to standard hospital expenses.
