Life in the Short Stay Unit

Nurse Unit Manager, Aruna Thathiah has been part of the St John of God Subiaco Hospital team for over 16 years. 

Whilst she joined the hospital’s Short Stay Unit over a year ago, Aruna says it’s like working with her family.

“You get your peaks and troughs, your busy days and short days but we have a fairly close knit working group and the staff are amazing,” she said.

Aruna emphasised that the journey to her current position was greatly influenced by the compassion and care shown by caregivers across the hospital. 

“The people that I work with is the most important thing. They are caring, accommodating, friendly and very warm,” she said.

“That’s what makes a big difference… especially coming from outside of Australia."
