More than 1,400 Caregivers from St John of God Health Care stepped with enthusiasm for the month of September as part of the STEPtember challenge.

STEPtember is an annual fundraising event which encourages participants to achieve 10,000 steps a day.

Money raised through the initiative is used to fund vital research, services, equipment and support programs for babies, children, teenagers and families affected by Cerebral Palsy.

St John of God Health Care raised a total of $40,000 for the Cerebral Palsy Alliance and recorded the most steps out of any organisation in Australia - more than 329,625,000.

St John of God Subiaco Hospital also achieved the highest number of steps across all St John of God Health Care divisions.

The hospital’s winning team, comprised of four Caregivers from surgical Ward 43, totalled an impressive 2,297,430 steps.

St John of God Subiaco Hospital Clinical Nurse and winning team member Nicki Hillier said they really wanted to get behind the STEPtember challenge and support this wonderful cause.

“It was a great team effort and we really spurred each other on to increase our daily step count. It’s amazing what you can achieve when you put your mind to it," she said.
