Cousins born on the same day with same obstetrician

On Monday 15 February, Nedlands residents Paris Dove and Brett Crabb welcomed their first baby, Charlie, at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. Only hours later, Brett’s sister, Danielle Webber, gave birth to her third baby, Jack, in the room next door.

Danielle said it was a surreal moment hearing baby Charlie’s first cry in the room next door and knowing that he’d arrived safely into the world.

“Paris and I knew that our babies’ birth dates would be close, but we never imagined that they would arrive on the same day,” she said.

Paris shared the same sentiment.

“We always anticipated that the birth of our baby would be a very memorable time for us, but it has been made truly special sharing this journey with Charlie’s little cousin, Jack,” Paris said.

“As first time parents, it was wonderful to have the immediate support of family members during our hospital stay, quite literally only a few metres away.”

Paris and Danielle also shared the same St John of God Subiaco Hospital Obstetrician, Dr Fiona Langdon.

“It was only once we announced our pregnancies that we realised we had booked the same obstetrician - it definitely wasn’t planned,” Danielle said.

Dr Fiona Langdon said 15 February is a day she will never forget.

“It was such a privilege to deliver two babies from the same extended family on the same day and share in their immense joy,” Dr Langdon said.

To make it even more special, Danielle and Brett’s sister, Tessa Trend, was also staying on the St John of God Subiaco Hospital maternity ward and is expecting a baby girl in coming weeks.

“We’ve all spent a lot of time together, and are really looking forward to Jack and Charlie’s special bond as cousins,” Danielle said.

“We’re very appreciative of how lovely the staff at St John of God Subiaco Hospital have been and how excited everyone is for us."
