St John of God Geelong Hospital has added three orthopaedic robots to its hospital

The new orthopaedic robots add to the hospital’s existing da Vinci Xi Surgical System, which gives patients access to minimally invasive surgery across a range of specialties, including urology, gynaecology, ear, nose and throat, thoracic and general surgery.

The addition of robotic technology to the hospital highlights how St John of God Health Care has been providing patients with access to the latest technology, enabling exceptional care close to home.

One of the new robots at St John of God Geelong Hospital is the Rosa Knee System, which enables orthopaedic surgeons to virtually conduct a knee replacement before performing any resection. It also sends surgeons live data and feedback to ensure resections are precise and accurate.

The Mako SmartRobotics device and VELYS Robotic-Assisted Solution are the other two robots that have recently arrived at the hospital.

Like the Rosa Knee System, both devices assist surgeons when undertaking hip (Mako only) and knee replacements.
