The service, run by St John of God Mental Wellbeing Services and funded by the Murray PHN, will provide valuable support to older people living in the City of Greater Bendigo, Macedon Ranges Shire and Mount Alexander Shire.

Danny Stone, manager of Mental Wellbeing Services for western Victoria, said the aim of the service was to help people living in residential aged care who were experiencing depression and anxiety.

“The service will also support residents when they have made the decision to transition from independent living at home into aged care,” Danny said.

“This time of life can see the emergence of new mental health issues or the exacerbation of existing ones due to the upheaval of moving, so our aim is to assist with the management of symptoms of depression and anxiety more broadly, and to support them in what can often be a big disruption in their lives,” he said.
