What is your position?

Social Worker at St John of God Richmond Hospital.

How long have you worked with us?

Two years.

Why were you interested in working with us?

My passion and speciality is in mental health, and was looking to move from the public system in to the private hospital mental health space.

What do you enjoy most about working with us?

I enjoy both the clinical work with the clients of the hospital as well as working with a big multi-disciplinary team. We have a beautiful culture among the team and staff members.

What opportunities have you received while working with us?

I have been able to pursue my personal development goals, in addition to my social work clinical work I have been able to broaden to group therapy and other therapeutic modalities through training. Through this, I have been able to broaden my clinical practice which has been personally rewarding but also helpful for clients as well.

What do you love about living in the Hawkesbury/Richmond area?

The Hawkesbury area is beautiful (an understatement) and the hospital is located on such beautiful grounds so I get to live in a beautiful place and work in a beautiful place as well.

What do you want other people to know about working with St John of God Health Care?

No day is the same, there is a lot of variety in the clinical work you get to do. You get to work with some wonderful, friendly and very kind people in the team and get to do that while serving clients.

Do you and your team socialise outside of work and if so, what do you do?

We try and socialise if we can, we do have a hospital social club so we get the opportunity to meet outside of work over food and drink. Both past and current staff members are always welcome so that is nice.

What does St John of God Health Care do to make you feel cared about in the workplace?

Two things come to mind, firstly St John of God Health Care is always really good at keeping staff up to date with what is happening. I also find they do try to make the time and effort to consult with staff on a regular basis to see how we are doing and what we think could be done to make things better or if there is some sort of quality improvement projects, so that’s how if feel like I am cared about. I think that within my team as well, we are always checked in with to see that I am doing OK and on track.
