St John of God Ballarat Hospital is proud to announce the launch of Australia’s first hospital-based Morsl Micro Market, offering a modern, self-service dining experience that delivers nutritious food to caregivers 24/7.

Partnering with Australian-owned company Morsl, the hospital has introduced this innovative dining solution to support the health and wellbeing of staff working across all shifts. With a strong presence in the eastern states, Morsl specialises in self-service café markets designed for large workplaces, and now brings its unique offering to the healthcare sector for the first time.

“Providing our caregivers with convenient access to healthy food options is essential to supporting their wellbeing and ability to deliver exceptional patient care. The Morsl Micro Market offers a flexible solution that aligns with the demands of shift work and our commitment to caregiver support,” said Rachel Morrison, Director of Corporate Services & Business Development.

The market includes a carefully curated range of food and beverage options tailored to hospital caregivers, who often face time constraints, physical fatigue, and emotional demands.

“By grounding our offer in real customer insights and observed shopping behaviours, we’ve created a health-forward, time-efficient, and purposeful product range that supports the caregivers at St John of God Health Care, so they, in turn, can focus on delivering the best care to others,” said Karla Borland, Morsl Founder and CEO.

The product range is built around three key shopping missions:

  • Quick energy boosts – such as protein smoothies and energy bars.
  • Healthy grab and go – including fresh salads, biltong, and protein snacks.
  • Permissible indulgence – like veggie chips and sweet treats.

Fresh meals such as chicken schnitzel sandwiches, sushi rolls, and gluten-free options are delivered regularly, ensuring caregivers always have access to satisfying and healthy food.

“Our caregivers do so much for our patients, so it’s important to be able to provide something like this for our caregivers. By providing innovative solutions like the Morsl Micro Market, we aim to create a supportive environment that prioritises the health and wellbeing of our staff,” said Maria Noonan, Chief Executive Officer of St John of God Ballarat Hospital.

The pilot program at Ballarat will be reviewed over the coming months, with the potential to expand the Morsl Micro Market solution across other St John of God Health Care locations throughout Australia.
