New Central Sterile Supply Department officially open
The upgraded department is part of the new hospital redevelopment works.

Part of the hospital redevelopment involved an upgraded Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) for the hospital. The department has brand new equipment, and be able to cater for the new theatres that will be built in the new hospital wing.

What is the CSSD?
The Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD) is a specialised area responsible for the collection, decontamination, assembling, packing, sterilisation, storing, and distribution of sterile equipment to patient care areas.
The CSSD plays a vital role in patient safety and in reducing hospital surgical infection. From an infection control perspective, it is essential to ensure that proper disinfection of surgical equipment is performed.
