Manchester to Perth a midwife's lifestyle change

Melanie relocated from Manchester in the United Kingdom to Perth in Australia.

When asked what she loves most about living in Perth, her first response is “the weather”, quickly followed by the friendly nature of people.

Melanie chose to work at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital as it reminded her of one of the first hospital’s she trained at in the United Kingdom, “it’s small, it’s friendly and it’s welcoming.”

“Working at St John of God Mt Lawley Hospital you get an all-round experience,” she said.

“As a midwife, you have the opportunity to work on the postnatal ward, in the special care nursery and deliver babies in the birth suite.”

“There are good training programs here as well, and importantly for me and my family, there is work life balance.”
