Parent education

Parents often need a wide range of support and guidance when it comes to preparing for the arrival of their new baby, particularly if it is their first.

Services we offer include parent education classes, maternity unit tours, booking-in clinics and telephone support.

Classes are hosted by our experienced midwives, who are focused on providing a relaxed and safe environment to learn, share and ask questions. Some classes may involve other health professionals qualified to speak on a particular topic.

Information is presented on many different aspects of pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding and early parenting.

Maternity tours

We offer weekly guided tours run by our maternity midwives to provide you an opportunity to see our maternity service and discuss any questions you may have as expectant parents.

Every Tuesday at 10.00am.

Every 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month at 10.00am (except for long weekends).

Maternity education hub for parents to be

St John of God Berwick Hospital is pleased to offer maternity patients access to a new digital online learning hub, Eve.

The social distancing restrictions in place during COVID-19 have seen the cancellation of antenatal classes and other educational sessions. Eve is the online solution, home to all the accurate and reliable education patients will need, while keeping them and their baby safe.

Eve allows the hospital to continue to provide convenient, consistent and credible antenatal and postpartum support to its patients.
