The app is designed to support parents through their pregnancy, birth and postnatal journey.

It was initially trialled at three of our hospitals in 2021 and its success has led to the expansion to all of our private maternity hospitals to provide parents with a one-stop-shop for all pregnancy, birth and parenting information they need at the touch of a button.

The app also includes a comprehensive parent education video series featuring obstetricians, midwives, lactation consultants and allied health caregivers from all of our private maternity hospitals.

St John of God Health Care Clinical Coordinator Maternity Services Zoe Islip said giving parents support and information when and where they needed had become more important than ever.

“We want all of our parents-to-be to feel comfortable and reassured that they have all the support and information they need throughout their pregnancy and in the lead up to birth,” she said.

“This app enables us to provides parents-to-be with the information they are after regarding their health and wellbeing, but just as importantly we can give them specific details about their hospital visit or stay so they know what to expect before they get to hospital.”

The new parent education video series covers topics from exercise and nutrition, stages of labour and birth, pain relief options, , breastfeeding and mental health.

“These videos really ensure our app is a one-stop-shop for parents to get all the information they need no matter where they are or how far along they are in their pregnancy journey.”

Current maternity patients receive registration instructions via email and new maternity patients receive instructions at their first obstetric appointment.
