How long have you worked at St John of God Berwick Hospital?

I’ve worked at St John of God Berwick Hospital for three and half years now.

Why were you interested in working with us?

I came to St John of God Berwick Hospital looking to try something different. In the past I had worked in the public sector and wanted to try out a new hospital and the private sector.

What do you enjoy about working with us?

My favourite thing about working with St John of God Health Care is the team I work with and my fellow midwives. Everyone is supportive of each other and helps each other out at work.

What opportunities have you received?

Since starting with the maternity team I have taken a promotion as a clinical midwife specialist. I have participated in a few projects with the maternity ward and worked on writing some policies and have been involved in running a few meetings each week.

What do you love about Berwick?

I love living in Berwick. Even though it is in the suburbs it is quite accessible. It is close to the train and it’s not too hard to get around and into the city.

What do you want other people to know about us?

I would like people to know that St John of God Berwick Hospital has a great team, it’s very inclusive and has quite a community feel. Everyone tends to know each other within the hospital.

Does your team socialise outside of work?

The team at Berwick maternity socialise outside of work quite a bit. Recently we went and saw a musical, we have been each other’s weddings, we have Christmas parties and even just catch up for a coffee.

Do you feel cared for in the workplace?

St John of God Health Care cares for us in the workplace by providing us with morning and afternoon tea everyday. So even sometimes when you don’t get time for lunch on a busy shift there is some food waiting for you in the tea room.
