St John of God Subiaco Hospital

Our new exhibition of WA landscape paintings in the hospital’s main corridor provides patients and visitors a welcoming environment. Studies show that being around art accelerates healing and so artwork is an important part of how St John of God Subiaco serves our patients and visitors. Our art curator Connie Petrillo said art ensured people's first encounter in a hospital was friendly and hospitable. “It acts as a catalyst for people to pause and reflect, and nourishes the individual,” she said. “The arts assist in promoting life to the full by enhancing the physical environment and supporting our intellectual, social and spiritual dimensions of being human. It is there for the benefit and enjoyment of all patients as well as visitors, and the caregivers and doctors who deliver the care.” The landscape theme of this diverse 12-piece exhibition was inspired by this newly donated piece by local artist Phillip Cook. Exhibitions in the SJG Subiaco main corridor change every three to four months.
