St John of God Richmond Trauma Team present to HMAS Albatross.

Members of our Trauma Team were invited to talk on the topic of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, resilience training and stress management to a group of sailors at HMAS Albatross in Nowra, NSW.

They opted for a civilian service provider and St John of God Richmond came highly recommended.

Chair of Trauma - Professor Zachary Steel and Clinical Nurse Consultant - Sean Fitz-Gerald presented to a group of approximately 20 sailors onsite as well as video conferencing to others from Canberra.

Professor Steel spoke on the rates of PTSD, physiological changes that occur as a result of this injury and current evidence-based treatments.

Sean Fitzgerald presented on stress monitoring and management strategies. The presentation was well received by the group and the HMAS Albatross Executive Officer (XO) has proposed collaborating with the hospital for further workshop events with our trauma team.
